This major project at Courtfield School provides first class sports & SEN facilities.
The sweeping curved roofscape provides a dynamic architectural solution to a large volume building which, combined with angled cladding, promotes a striking visual addition to the campus.
The main sports hall incorporates a generous north-facing clerestory that provides controlled natural lighting and views into the adjacent tree canopies. Its angled profile also helps to limit glare. Passive ventilation serves the main hall with louvre-controlled vents at high level and a solar hot water system serves the changing room showers.
In addition to the main 4-court sports hall, facilities include changing facilities for two classes, equipment stores, offices and a generous viewing gallery with lift. In addition, the centre has a purpose-designed SEN department comprising conference room, seminar rooms, flexible teaching spaces and a therapy room.
