This extremely important and complex project for Yeovil District Hospital involved the installation of a new pharmacy robot and the remodelling of the existing offices, staff areas, goods in, dispatch, outpatients’ area and the re-organisation of the main pharmacy.
We had to work closely with hospital staff to ensure we had a full understanding of how the pharmacy operated. This included areas such as drug trials, dispensing, controlled drugs areas and final checking. The result is a re-organised and refurbished facility that allows improved efficiency and a better working environment for the staff.
The pharmacy had to remain in operation and secure during the whole construction process, which included asbestos removal, the installation of the new robot followed by the decommissioning and removal of the existing robot. All work was carried out within a live hospital environment with restricted access with LED Architects also undertaking the role of Principal Designer.
We worked with the hospital management team to agree a four-phased approach with each phase broken down into smaller sections of work and coordinated the information provided by the supplier of the robot to ensure a smooth project delivery.
