Pharmacy Robot

This important and complex project for Yeovil District Hospital involved the installation of a new pharmacy robot together with the remodelling of existing offices, staff areas, goods-in, dispatch and outpatients areas, and the wider reorganisation of the main pharmacy.

LED Architects worked closely with hospital staff to develop a detailed understanding of how the pharmacy operated, including drug trials, dispensing, controlled-drug areas and final checking. The result is a reorganised and refurbished facility that improves efficiency and provides a better working environment for staff.

The pharmacy had to remain operational and secure throughout construction. Works included asbestos removal, installation of the new robot and subsequent decommissioning and removal of the existing robot, all within a live hospital environment with restricted access. LED Architects also undertook the role of Principal Designer.

Working with the hospital management team, the project was organised as a four-phase programme, with each phase broken down into smaller sections of work. LED Architects also coordinated information from the robot supplier to support a smooth and carefully managed delivery.
